Mike McCray

Mike McCray - Shenandoah National ParkAfter years of playing various styles of music in several different bands, Mike decided to go solo with his own type of music. For lack of a better term, it can be called contemporary folk, but with influences ranging from traditional American to swing, and from bluegrass to rock, his is not your normal coffee-house folk. An educator, historian, writer and farmer, Mike uses the songs he has collected and composed to tell stories that make you think, laugh, remember and learn. He has released two albums/CDs, "The Journey" and "Beneath a Tree" with songs co-written by his sister Carla. The heart of his music is the golden age of pop/folk from the 70s, but he ventures into newer music upon request. Other than Big Meadows and Skyland - his favorite places to play - Tommy performs every Saturday night at Boccato Gelato and Espresso in Arlington, VA. If you live in the DC area he would love for you to stop by and bring some Shenandoah spirit with you!
