While a ride along Skyline Drive to see the fall colors never disappoints, the opportunity for fall hiking in Shenandoah is all around. Both Skyland Resort and Big Meadows Lodge have access to hiking trails within walking distance and feature spectacular views of fall foliage landscapes.

If you're staying at Skyland, Stony Man is an easy 1.6 mile roundtrip only includes 340 feet of elevation gain and leads you to some of the most spectacular views in the park. From the Stony Man parking area in Skyland, take the Appalachian Trail to the trail post, continue on the Stony Man Trail to the viewpoint. Please note, no pets are allowed on this hike.

If you're staying at Big Meadows Lodge, the Blackrock Summit trail is a short and easy 1 mile roundtrip hike that ends with a viewpoint featuring stunning autumn views of Massanutten Mountain, the Shenandoah Valley and fall colors in every direction.
