Due to a fire at the entrance gate, Thornton Gap - one of the park's busiest entrance stations - will be down to one lane, unable to facilitate cash sales (card only), and will not be high enough for RV's to enter through. Please plan accordingly.
You may also pre-purchase your park pass online at recreation.gov, which will make the overall entrance station experience go quicker.

Along the 105-mile stretch, which climbs to 3,680 feet above sea level, you'll have the opportunity to pull off the road at 69 scenic overlooks and take part in an array of recreational activities - from hiking, horseback riding, and rock climbing to culinary events and wine tasting! Gasoline and diesel with 24/7 pay at the pump service are available at Big Meadows Wayside (mile 51).
