Only 90 minutes from Luray, VA, with the Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding you, the historic Lewis Mountain Cabins offer comfortable accommodations to families, couples, or anyone seeking an authentic Shenandoah National Park experience.

You won't mind the absence of in-room phones or internet access as you "connect" with the tweets of songbirds.

Room Description:

  • Comfortable one bedroom cabin with one double bed.
  • Heat, ceiling fan, no air conditioning.

Hiker's Cabin at Lewis Mountain Cabins in Shenandoah National Park

Room Description:

  • Rustic cabin with two bunk beds.
  • Pot belly stove for heat, no air conditioning.
  • Electric lighting
  • No bathroom or running water.
  • You must provide your own linens.
  • Outdoor picnic table with ramp to cooking space.
  • You provide your own cooking utensils, food, and coolers for food, as there is no refrigeration.
  • Firewood is provided for the duration of your stay.

Puppy

Room Policies:

  • Pets must be declared at check-in.
  • No more than two well-behaved pets (dogs or cats only) per room are permitted.
  • Pets are not permitted in any public building, and must be attended and leashed at all times in all common areas.
  • Please bring your own pet bed as our blankets are not meant to be pet beds.
  • Pet food and treats must be kept in airtight containers so they do not attract wildlife and pests.
  • $30 per pet, per night, non-refundable cleaning fee will be charged for pets in the room.
  • Pets cannot be left unattended in your guestroom unless it is in a portable kennel.
  • For the safety and comfort of your pet, housekeeping will NOT clean your room if your pet is left unattended.

When registering at the Front Desk, the pet owner agrees to the hotel's pet policy, to be responsible for any damages or injury caused by the pet, and to absolve any liability if the pet or another guest is injured. Of the 500 miles of trails in Shenandoah National Park, dogs are allowed on 480 miles of them. You have hundreds of options to explore with your dog! Check here for trails to avoid.

  1. Take a hike with your best friend to Rose River Trail - a super popular trail with dog families.
  2. Choose the Pampered Pooch Package to make your stay (and your pup's) more enjoyable. It includes the daily pet fee, a dog treat, Shenandoah leash and dog bowl and bottled water.
  3. Head down to the Shenandoah Valley, which is filled with pet-friendly wineries, and taste some phenomenal Virginia wines.
  4. Join us for "Yappy Hour" at Big Meadow Lodge's outdoor terrace, featuring pet-friendly dining and a special "Yappy Menu" for your doggy. Available during lunch and dinner.
  5. Try some river paddling by canoe with Shenandoah River Outfitters. Dogs welcome!

Lewis Mountain Cabins offer the fireside experiences of camping with the comforts of a motel.

While there are no in-room phones, cell service is available depending on your provider. WiFi is also not available at the cabins, but that just gives you a great chance to disconnect from your everyday cares and reconnect with nature and each other!
