The Perfect Spot for a Summer Retreat

In 1888, George Freeman Pollock Jr. made it his mission to find the perfect spot for a summer retreat. He found it at what is now mile 41.7 and 42.5 on Skyline Drive, otherwise known as Skyland Resort. Perched 3,680 feet up at the highest point along Skyline Drive, the name comes as no surprise. Meanwhile, the breathtaking views of the Shenandoah Valley never cease to amaze. It is in Pollock's own words ... "Beauty beyond description".

Location, location, location applies even in the wilderness. The Shenandoah River, Shenandoah Valley and Piedmont Region are within a short driving distance of the park's entrances, making lodging and cabin rentals at Skyland Resort highly coveted. But no need to worry. Skyland Resort boasts 28 buildings on 16 acres along the crests and wooded areas of Shenandoah National Park. So there’s plenty of room for you. In-room phones won't interrupt the serenity of your surroundings (there are none).  If you must have Wi-fi, it is available free of charge in the lobby of the registration building.
