Big Meadows Lodge
Horizon expanded
Built in 1939 with stones cut from the Massanutten Mountains to the west, Big Meadows Lodge (mile 51.2) resists the temptation to interrupt the natural “feng shui” of things. The interior follows suit with wood paneling made from native chestnut trees that are now virtually extinct. No wonder the main lodge was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 28, 1997.
With the Shenandoah River, Shenandoah Valley and Piedmont Region a little over an hour's drive away, Big Meadows Lodge offers an ideal location for lodging and cabin rentals. The main lodge, five cabins and six multi-unit buildings, are nestled in about 10 acres of park land. A variety of rooms & cabins give you plenty of options to choose from. In-room phones won’t interrupt the serenity of your surroundings (there are none). But if you must have Wi-Fi, it’s available free of charge to guests in the Great Room of the main building.
You’ll also find the Spottswood Dining Room, New Market Taproom and Craft Shop in the main lodge. The Spottswood Dining Room keeps you well fed with breakfast, lunch and dinner. For lighter fare, look no further than the New Market Taproom, which also serves family-friendly entertainment free to all park guests every night.
