Blackberry Cobbler a la mode - Shenandoah National Park For many Shenandoah National Park visitors, it’s all about the blackberries. Starting mid-summer, thickets of Shenandoah blackberries ripen in the open areas along the roads, trails and streams of the national park.

Blackberry Delight is an annual event that celebrates the sweet-tart fruit in all its glory. Skyland chefs create special blackberry-infused dishes combined with a full day of live music, dancing, local crafts, pony rides, and kid’s activities to make it a fun day for the entire family!

Gary SheltonGlen has worked with many Nashville recording artists since 1995, and he won the Colgate Country Showdown in 2002. His first national radio release was a self-written Top 40 hit on the country charts in 2004. He has continued to work with well-known artists such as Jimmy Fortune who recorded with Glen on his latest album. This album includes two self-written songs that hit the Top 10 on the nationwide Christian Country Top 100 in 2009. In 2010, Glen opened for Tanya Tucker, Joe Nichols, Darryl Worley, Little Texas, and Rhonda Vincent. In March 2010, self-written "Help Me to Stand" hit #2 on the nationwide Christian Country Top 100. In May 2010, "Help Me to Stand" hit #12 on the nationwide Power Source Country Top 20. Glen has also been nominated for the ICM (Inspirational Country Music) Songwriter of the Year and New Artist of the Year, and the ICGMA (International Country Gospel Music Association) Male Horizon and Crossover Artist. The most popular question people ask Glen when they hear him for the first time is "Where have you been?"

Shenandoah Valley Cloggers

Shenandoah Valley CloggersThe Shenandoah Valley Cloggers Inc., formed in 1984, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of Appalachian clogging, a distinctive form of American folk dance, which encompasses many different traditions of step dances with Scottish, English, Dutch and German roots. To entertain a variety of ages, the troupe’s music includes everything from bluegrass, to country, to pop, to old time rock ‘n’ roll. Since 1984, the troupe has been performing Tuesday evenings from April through October at Skyland in Shenandoah National Park. The troupe is made up of 14 dancers, ranging in age from mid-20s to late 60s, all focused on their love of clogging and the enjoyment of entertaining.

Natural Grass - Shenandoah National ParkThe Natural Grass Band was formed in the summer of 2006. After “jamming” with musicians from both sides of the Blue Ridge, Debbie Zinn brought some of her “music buddies” together to perform throughout the northwestern region of Virginia. Natural Grass’ repertoire consists mainly of traditional bluegrass favorites from many years ago, from the likes of Bill Monroe, Reno & Smiley and the Stanley Brothers to name a few. They have performed at various events over the years including festivals, conference retreats, banquets, cookouts and church events.
