To entertain a variety of ages, the troupe’s music includes everything from bluegrass, to country, to pop, to old time rock ‘n’ roll. Since 1984, the troupe has been performing Tuesday evenings from April through October at Skyland in Shenandoah National Park. Later, he played in a bluegrass band, "Hollowbound." In 2011 he formed the “Turkey Ridge String Band,” which played some high-profile venues. Before striking out on his own as Bob & CO, Bob started a folk band, ACE $trings. Joining Bob for the 2018 Apple Butter Celebration is Art Latham of Raleigh, N.C., who led the bands with which Bob played in the ’60s. Art plays harmonica (“mouth harp”) and guitar and offers vocals covering songs ranging from Neil Young to Jimmy Buffett. Currently Art is a regular in Lorraine's House Band in Garner, N.C. and also plays with pick-up bands in Santa Fe, N.M. Also joining Bob and Co for this event is Scott Stubbs of Barboursville, Va. Natural GrassThe Natural Grass Band was formed in the summer of 2006. After “jamming” with musicians from both sides of the Blue Ridge, Debbie Zinn brought some of her “music buddies” together to perform throughout the northwestern region of Virginia. Natural Grass’ repertoire consists mainly of traditional bluegrass favorites from many years ago, from the likes of Bill Monroe, Reno & Smiley and the Stanley Brothers to name a few. They have performed at various events over the years including festivals, conference retreats, banquets, cookouts and church events.
