In 1888, George Freeman Pollock Jr. made it his mission to find the perfect spot for a summer retreat. He found it at what is now mile 41.7 and 42.5 on Skyline Drive, otherwise known as Skyland Resort. Perched 3,680 feet up at the highest point along Skyline Drive, the name comes as no surprise. Meanwhile, the breathtaking views of the Shenandoah Valley never cease to amaze. It is in Pollock's own words ... "Beauty beyond description."
