The famous Appalachian Trail runs approximately 2,200 miles from Georgia to Maine, and in the middle passes right through our own state of Virginia. 101 miles of the trail can be found in Shenandoah, running nearly the entire length of the park. The A.T. passes through Skyland and Big Meadows Lodge areas, which makes for a great Lodge-to-Lodge hiking experience. Hiking distance between the lodges is nine miles, so you can stay one or two nights in a comfortable room and enjoy delicious food.
