Shenandoah National Park has partnered with the Kids in Parks Program to establish three TRACK Trails where kids can earn prizes for tracking their adventures online, and completing each trail's activity guide supports their Shenandoah Junior Ranger Program requirements!
Limberlost TRACK Trail - Shenandoah National Park

TRACK Trails

Limberlost TRACK Trail

  • located at mile 43
  • gentle 1.3-mile loop
  • built for all ages and abilities
  • home to many creatures
  • winds through sprawling mountain laurel, tall oaks, and feathery ferns
  • perfect choice for those staying at Skyland (located at miles 41.7 and 42.5)

Blackrock Summit TRACK Trail

  • located at mile 84.4
  • 1-mile loop
  • winds along a portion of the Appalachian Trail
  • 175-foot elevation gain to a rocky talus slope overlooking the Shenandoah Valley
  • perfect choice for those staying at Big Meadows Lodge (located at mile 51)

Fox Hollow TRACK Trail

  • located at mile 4.6
  • 1.2-mile loop
  • takes about an hour to hike
  • is rated "easiest"
  • discover evidence of the people who lived here before the park was established in 1935
  • perfect choice for those visiting the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center
Junior Ranger - Shenandoah National Park

Junior Ranger

  • designed for ages 7-12
  • during spring, summer and fall, park rangers conduct regularly scheduled Junior Ranger programs
  • free guides are available at Dickey Ridge and Byrd Visitor Centers, Park Headquarters, or can be downloaded from the NPS website
