Shenandoah National Park is fortunate to have four distinct seasons. During the winter months, the higher elevations often experience snow and ice. During the cooler months layered clothing is recommended. The mountainous areas can be colder by as much as 10 degrees. The spring brings beautiful wildflowers and blossoming trees. Summer is very temperate and enjoyable. Perhaps the most noted season in the park is fall, which provides a spectacular display of foliage.
